About the Board of Study
Along with the establishment of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Ruhuna in 2011, the Board of Study in Agriculture was established with the aim of becoming the Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Education and Research in the Nation. The Board of Study in Agriculture plays a vital role in administrative activities and in the management and maintenance of the standards and academic qualities of postgraduate programmes.
Research Degrees
Research degrees are offered under two categories:
- MPhil — Full-time: 2 years | Part-time: 3 years
- PhD — Full-time: 3 years | Part-time: 4 years
Students may select their preferred Department of Study for registration. Please refer to the Postgraduate By-Law of the Faculty of Graduate Studies for more information.
Coursework-Based Postgraduate Programmes
The following coursework-based Master’s and Diploma programmes are currently offered under the Board of Study in Agriculture. New programmes are currently being designed and will be available in due course.
- Master of Science (MSc) in Crop Production Technology (CPT) / Postgraduate Diploma in CPT
- Master of Food Science and Technology (MFST) / Postgraduate Diploma in FST
- Master of Science (MSc) in Animal Science
- Master of Agribusiness Management (MABM) / Postgraduate Diploma in ABM
- Master of Science in Agricultural Economics and Resource Management
- Master of Science in Agricultural Economics and Development
- Master of Science (MSc) in Green Technology
