Admission Year 2025/26 — Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna
Overview
The Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna calls applications from eligible candidates to follow the B.Sc. Honours in Agricultural Resource Management and Technology (ARMT) and B.Sc. Honours in Agribusiness Management (ABM) degree programs under special provisions for the admission year 2025/26. These are four-year Honours degree programs. An entrance examination will be held for selection, and qualified candidates will be called for a final interview.
Programs Offered
1. B.Sc. Honours in Agricultural Resource Management and Technology (ARMT)
Eligibility Requirements:
- Professional Qualification: A two-year Diploma in Agriculture or Animal Production from a recognized institution (School of Agriculture, Aquinas University College, Hardy Institute of Technical Training, Affiliated University College, National College of Education with Agriculture as main subject, or other institution approved by the Ministry of Education/UGC).
- Academic Qualifications: GCE (O/L) with six passes in one sitting (four credit passes including Science and Mathematics). GCE (A/L) with at least three passes in one sitting from: Botany, Chemistry, Zoology, Biology, Physics, Mathematics (Pure/Applied), Agriculture.
- Professional Experience: Five years (05) of experience as a permanent employee in government or private sector in Agriculture/Animal Production or related fields, after obtaining the Diploma.
- Scholarships: Head of institution should arrange scholarships/study leave for selected candidates to follow the degree full-time.
- Entrance Examination: Aptitude test (30 minutes) + subject matter paper with MCQs and structured essays (02 hours). Fee: Rs. 5000/=
2. B.Sc. Honours in Agribusiness Management (ABM)
Eligibility Requirements:
- Academic Qualifications: GCE (A/L) with three passes in Chemistry, Physics (or Geography/Agriculture), and Biology (Botany and Zoology) in one sitting. Equivalent qualifications apply for foreign students.
- Experience: Five years (05) working experience as permanent employee in Agribusiness sector in public/private/foreign industry/institutes. OR Ten (10) years self-employment experience in agribusiness sector.
- Fee Structure:
- Sri Lankan candidates: Rs. 200,000/= per year (Total Rs. 800,000/=)
- Foreign candidates: US $2,000/= per year (Total US$ 8,000)
- Application processing fee: Rs. 1,000 (Sri Lankan), USD 50 (foreign)
General Requirements
- Maximum three (03) attempts for the entrance examination.
- Age should be below 40 years on the closing date of application.
- Medium of examination and degree programs: English.
Application Procedure
- Application forms and details available from the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna, Mapalana, Kamburupitiya after payment of entrance examination fees.
- Duly completed applications must be forwarded through respective Heads of Institutions to reach the Assistant Registrar, Faculty of Agriculture on or before 31st October 2026.
- For postal requests: Send a self-addressed stamped envelope (9" x 4") to Assistant Registrar, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna, Mapalana, Kamburupitiya, along with bank deposit slip for the entrance examination fee.
