The Faculty of Agriculture is committed to ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent deserving students from pursuing their academic goals. Three main schemes are available to undergraduate students.
1. Mahapola Higher Education Scholarship Scheme
The Mahapola Scholarship is a government-funded merit-based scholarship awarded to eligible undergraduates.
- Value: LKR 3,500 per month
- Eligibility: Students admitted based on Z-score; family income must not exceed LKR 100,000 per month
- Application: Submit the Mahapola application form to the Faculty Office within the deadline announced at the commencement of each academic year
2. Bursary Scheme
The Bursary Scheme is a need-based financial assistance programme administered by the University.
- Value: LKR 2,000 per month
- Eligibility: Family income must not exceed LKR 60,000 per month; Academic performance is also considered
- Application: Applications are submitted to the Faculty Office at the beginning of the academic year along with supporting income-verification documents
3. Endowed Scholarships
Several private and institutional donors have established endowed scholarships for students of the Faculty of Agriculture. These scholarships are awarded based on a combination of academic merit and financial need.

- Awarded annually through the Faculty Office
- Applications are called by circular at the beginning of each academic year

- Students may apply for more than one scheme, but awards are subject to eligibility rules of each scheme
- All applications must be supported by certified income documents (Grama Niladhari certificate or equivalent)
- Late applications will not be considered
